Do you know some of the people who worked on Brave and Octopath make a game for the Apple Arcade series? It almost slipped our mind! Until yesterday, at the Nintendo Direct, Different Daylife make a surprise appearance. Launching on the service in 2019, this simplified RPG is now available for purchase on the Switch eShop. Like, now.
Curiously titled, like many other Square Enix games, Various Daylife is developed by DokiDoki Groove Works, the same studio behind other Square Enix mobile games such as Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent, Valkyrie Anatomia: The Originas well as the lovely Switch game Taiko no Tatsujin: Drum ‘n’ Fun. But many of the teams behind some of Square Enix’s popular turn-based RPGs also helped out, including the Bravely series and Live A Live producer Tomoya Asano.
Battles change the turn-based formula, and you’ll need to prioritize teamwork with the Change, Chain, and Chance commands. Otherwise, it’s meant to be a much cooler experience than say, yours Brave Default II. In August, the game was removed from Apple’s Arace service, and it looks like that could be in preparation for a console release.
For more information on the game, check out all the details from Various Daylife’s eShop listing:
A new ‘Adventure X Daily Life’ RPG from SQUARE ENIX, created by the development team that worked on OCTOPATH TRAVELER and BRAVELY DEFAULT.
In the year 211 of the Imperial Era, a new continent was discovered. Explore every last corner of it as a settler of Antoecia, while living life to the fullest in the city of Erebia.
– Character growth through daily activities — Various DAYLIFE features more than 20 job classes and more than 100 job types for those jobs to be performed. Since you’ll be able to increase your strength through physical labor or improve your magic with more mentally taxing tasks, you can shape your character as you see fit depending on your chosen job.
– Overcome dungeons with great management — Choose what limited rations, items and camping equipment you can pack in your bags as you leave the safety of the city to face the unknown. You’ll battle monsters, bad weather, and food spoilage across Antoecia’s various frontiers. When the going gets tough, will you keep going, or pull back to explore another day? You will have to make these kinds of decisions as you advance in a way across the continent, where no one has ever set foot before.
– Innovative Battle System – The Three CHAs — Introducing a twist on traditional job-and-skill, turn-based combat, with a unique system that relies heavily on working with your allies. CHANGE the condition of your opponents, build a CHAIN of attacks and take advantage of your OPPORTUNITY to deal massive damage!
However, this wasn’t the only game Asano and the team worked on. It was also announced in Direct yesterday Octopath Traveler IIa new HD-2D game for Switch (as well as PCs and PlayStation consoles). And that’s not even counting how many other Square Enix games are coming to Switch next year.
The Daylife variety is also available on multiple platforms, but if it’s the Switch version you’re looking for, you can download it now from the eShop for £24.99 / $28.99 on the eShop right now!
